Blender

I started to teach myself to use Blender so I can make meshes for my work-in-progress game The PitIt had always been an ambition of mine to try 3D modelling because, like web design you can create whatever you can imagine with the added capability of experiencing it interactively in a game engine.

At first, like anything I wasn’t very good but I was able to use tutorials on YouTube and forums to grasp the basics and then improve from there. Blender is known for being quite unintuitive and clunky but it’s also very powerful under the bonnet. I feel confident enough in blender to make a realistic looking model and texture it either for rendering or for importing into game engines such as Unity.

I’d like to experiment with rendering 3D environments as static images for use online, e.g for creating interactive, story-telling websites.
